A Concerned Citizen and a Patriot, Dr Ibrahim Abubakar Lajada, has lauded the effort by the Nigerian Governors Forum in supporting the amendment of the Tax Reforms Bill.
Dr Lajada, who has thrown his weight behind the Governors move, described it as a significant step towards advancing fiscal transparency, equity, and economic growth of our nation.
Ibrahim who was commenting on the recent approval by the Governors of the Tax Reforms, praised the Forum's foresight of endorsing the Revised VAT sharing formula which allocates 50% based on equality and 30% based on derivation as well as 20% based on population.
The recent amendments to the Tax Reforms Bill, supported by Governors, reflect a deep commitment to addressing the challenges within our tax system and creating a framework that serves the interests of all Nigerians.
He pointed out that by prioritizing this reform, the Governors have demonstrated a profound understanding of the need for a more efficient and accountable tax structure to support sustainable development.
This achievement according to Lajada is a testament to the collaborative efforts and visionary leadership of the governors in ensuring that the amended bill aligns with the realities and aspirations of our citizens.
He was of the view that the updated reforms will enhance revenue generation, promote compliance and provide a stronger foundation for funding critical public services such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
