The Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Housing has conducted an extensive oversight tour of key housing projects under the Kano State Housing Corporation (KSHC), reaffirming its commitment to ensuring accountability, quality delivery, and timely completion of public housing initiatives across the state.
Led by the Committee Chairman, also a Member representing Kumbotso Constituency at the State Assembly, Hon. Mudassir Ibrahim Zawaciki, alongside other lawmakers who were saved as members in this committee.
The team inspected several ongoing and completed project sites, at Zoo Road Shopping Complex, Ja'oji Shopping Complex, Tarauni Shopping Complex others are Warri Road Shopping Complex in Sabon, Gold cost Road, Kabuga Shopping Complex and the ongoing permanent site of the Corporation at Kwankwasiyya city among others, the visit was accompanied by the Managing Director of the Kano State Housing Corporation (KSHC) Alh. Abdullahi Rabiu, Deputy MD Engr. Isyaku Umar Kwa and other key Directors of the Corporation.
According to the lawmaker the visit aimed to assess the level of work done, identify challenges, and strengthen collaboration between the Legislature and the Corporation for improved service delivery.
During the tour, the Committee expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far, noting that the projects demonstrate the State Government’s resolve to address housing deficits and provide dignified, affordable accommodation for the people of Kano.
The House Committee reaffirmed its readiness to support the Corporation through legislative backing, policy guidance, and timely interventions to ensure the successful completion of all ongoing projects.
The oversight visit forms part of the State Assembly’s mandate to monitor the implementation of government programs and guarantee that public resources are effectively utilized for the benefit of citizens, said the lawmaker.
Earlier, in his address the Managing Director of KSHC Alh Abdullahi Rabiu provide detailed briefings on each project, highlighting areas of achievement and constraints, including funding, contractors compliance, and project timelines. He appreciated the Committee’s oversight role and assured continued commitment to transparency, quality control, and adherence to approved standards.
