The Kano State Government has reiterated commitment to collaborate with any Groups, Individuals and NGOs for speedy development especially in the area of environmental sector.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change Rt. Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo made the assertion today while receiving Singer Market Development Association (SIMDA) who called on him in his office.
The commissioner who expressed delight for the visit, commended the association for their foresight and described the visit as timely.
He pledged to work very closely with the association for mutual benefit in the area of environmental issues within the market premises.
Garo further explained that, the present administration is up and doing to ensure clean and tidy environment devoid of waste especially around the market places in view of their sensitive nature.
The commissioner however, promised to visit the market by himself next month during the end of month environmental Sanitation exercise to assess some of the bedevilling challenges raised by this association which militate the smooth activities within the market for possible interventions, he added.
Earlier, in his remarks the chairman Singer Market Development Association (SIMDA) Alh. Junaidu Muhammad Zakari said they were at the commissioner office today to introduce themselves and to shared issues regarding the environment challenges in Singer Market for urgent interventions.
Alh. Zakari narrated some of the main environmental issues bedevilling the smooth conduct operations within the market which includes, Silted drainages, toilets challenges, waste accumulation among other issues, he than seek the government intervention through the ministry of Environment for immediate address of this challenges, and lauded the commissioner for the immediate response to their demands and prayed for lasting peace and harmony in Kano and Nigeria at large.
