Commissioner Blames Past Govt. For improper usage of Refuse Collection Centers.


The Kano state government has blamed the immediate passed administration of governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje  for converting some refuse collection centers for commercial purposes, a situation that makes people to be dumping waste on the road or other unwanted areas, a situation which give the state a negative image.

The state commissioner for environment Rt. Hon. Nasiru Sule Garo explained this at the end of the monthly sanitation exercise holding in Kano last Saturday.

The commissioner further explained that the previous administration have converted a number of refuse collection Centers to other different uses most of them for commercial activities the development that make people to be dumping refuse on roads and other areas that are not meant for the said purpose.

Nasiru Garo said the state government is working very hard to re-establish new collection centers so that all the waste generated from houses would be collected and disposed to a better place.

“When the engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf administration came onboard  the level refuse accumulating is enormous, but we are working very hard to ensure smooth operation across the state.

It's disheartening to note that, some of the agencies under the were almost moribond ,but the present administration  of governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has purchased many equipment, we form a committee to go round the city and identify places that we are going to re-establish the refuse collection centers because the previous administration most of the even collection centers have been converted to different other uses most of them to commercial uses,” Nasiru Garo said.

The commissioner lauds  people in the state for being law abiding citizens assuring that the state government will  do everything possible to provide more collection centers and equipment to keep Kano clean.
